Qld: Hundreds battle heat without power

BRISBANE, Feb 22 AAP - Hundreds of southeast Queenslanders were battling searing heat
without electricity today.

An Energex spokeswoman said 800 customers were without electricity at noon (AEST),
as the mercury soared to 40 degrees Celsius in Brisbane.

She said crews were working to restore power to homes at Chapel Hill, Hamilton, Paddington
and Taringa in Brisbane, Bundamba in Ipswich and Helensvale and Tallebudgera on the Gold
Coast.
