Tasha Humphrey scores 28 points, leads Shock past Mercury

Rookie Tasha Humphrey scored a season-high 28 points to lead the Detroit Shock over the Phoenix Mercury 89-79 on Saturday in a rematch of last year's WNBA finals.

The game was the first between the teams since the Mercury beat Detroit in game five of the finals last September to win the WNBA title.

Humphrey was 10-of-15 shots from the floor and added eight rebounds to help the Shock (8-3) break a two-game losing streak.

Cappie Pondexter led the Mercury (2-6) with 28 points.

At New York, Cathrine Kraayeveld and Shameka Christon scored 13 points each to help New York hold off Minnesota.
