BRISBANE, Jan 1 AAP - It was 30 years ago that Terry Lewis began his rapid rise through
the Queensland Police Force which ended in an equally dramatic fall.

In August 1973, cabinet approved the promotion of Detective Senior Sergeant Lewis,
then aged 45, to the rank of Inspector Grade 4 assigned to the Office of Commissioner
of Police.

Three years later Lewis was stationed in outback Charleville and leapfrogged 106 officers
